Tuesday, September 13, 2022
1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. EASTERN TIME

Which comes first the chicken or the egg; the fire or the firefighter; the operational problem or the policy and procedure?  The heart of the questions is whether you are reactionary or proactive.  Today we like to facilitate  a discussion on selected policies and procedures that must be monitored to avoid being more reactionary than proactive.

Learning Objectives
  • Learn how to recognize policies that should be updated.
  • Learn how to identify procedures that should be updated.
  • Learn how to think through a monitoring of policies and procedures schedule.

NONPROFIT ACCOUNTING EXPERTISE | As a partner in Aronson LLC's Nonprofit and Association Industry Services Group, I am a results-driven practitioner who specializes in assurance and consulting services for clients that include associations, faith-based organizations, foundations, schools and service organizations. UNIQUE INSIGHT | My work with the nonprofit community extends outside of the office and that experience has made me uniquely qualified to understand the demands of nonprofit accounting and leadership. In addition to my role at Aronson, I sit on the board of the Aronson Foundation and serve as a board member of Interfaith Works, a nonprofit that serves the needs of poor and homeless populations in Montgomery County. In years past, I have worked as a college professor and a winning high school soccer coach. THOUGHT LEADERSHIP | Active within my profession, I have taught numerous CPE classes and presented financial accounting and auditing topics at events that include the Virginia Society of CPA's Annual Nonprofit Conference and the Greater Washington Society of CPA's Annual Nonprofit Symposium. I was a contributing author to ASAE’s The Financial Management Handbook for Associations and Nonprofits, and the Nonprofit Controllers Manual.
